Donor Societies

Gates of Capitol Building In addition to receiving the popular history magazine Colonial Williamsburg and a 24-karat gold-finished collectible ornament, donors of $100 or more receive special benefits, including access to the St. George Tucker House Donor Reception Center. These donors are invited to join one of our donor societies:

  • Duke of Gloucester Society
    Annual gift of $100
  • Capitol Society
    Annual gift of $250
  • Colonial Williamsburg Assembly
    Annual gift of $500

Special Donor Societies

Members of the special donor societies aid us in preserving the heritage of eighteenth-century Williamsburg and play a leading role in perpetuating the restored city, which was a training ground for a remarkable group of our country's founders. The special donor societies, in short, will carry on proud Williamsburg traditions of individual liberty and self-government that span three centuries.

Gifts from members of the donor societies help the Foundation maintain its standards of excellence and quality so evident to all who visit. The future of Colonial Williamsburg truly rests with the American people. Some major activities funded by gifts from the donor societies are:

  • Educational and cultural programs for students and adult visitors.
  • Restoration of the Historic Area, including ongoing architectural, archaeological, and historical research, and maintenance of existing buildings and gardens.
  • Presentation and interpretation of colonial history through crafts, music, drama, and publications.
  • Improvement of the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century decorative arts collection.

We are pleased to announce the dates of the Colonial Williamsburg Donor Societies meetings for 2008:

  • Raleigh Tavern Society - May 16-18 and September 26-28
  • Colonial Williamsburg Associates - October 10
  • Colonial Williamsburg Burgesses - March 29 and November 14
